History of Vermont Humane Federation

The Vermont Humane Federation (VHF) was formed in 1990 by the merger of two humane organizations, the Vermont Humane Society (founded in the late 1800’s) and the Vermont Federation of Humane Societies, which began in 1977 as a vehicle of communication, sharing ideas and finding solutions to common problems.

Today, the VHF remains a united voice for Vermont’s animals.  Members use their collective resources to tackle state-wide issues like animal cruelty, pet homelessness and legislative advocacy.
